本期以哥倫比亞作家加西亞馬奎茲的長篇小說《百年孤寂》作為出發點，在這本小說中，他刻畫出一個充滿異國風情的村莊「馬康多」，以及根源於此的邦狄亞家族跨越六個世代的故事。即使是四十年後的今天讀來，裡面的情節多半仍是充滿了超越現實的不思議以及魔幻感，然而，那只是當地的日常，如同藝術家施昀佑在哥倫比亞結識的朋友所道：「⋯⋯這些故事都是真的，不要說魔幻，說魔幻是種污辱，如果你愛我們，記得這件事。」像是鏡子，那些荒謬的既視感也倒映出台灣有如馬康多的那一面，同時卻也正是我們出生、生活之地——儀式、傳說、家族史與人情世故——有時候敘事與虛構實已難分難解，已發生的種種編織出當下的形狀，是歷史或者是夢。這期的瀑布藉由各個藝術家的創作堆砌出另外一本長篇，關於邊界、關於傳承、關於「家」、關於現實，也關於孤寂，由〈馬康多大飯店〉文中的對話開始，讓讀者自行決定這些章節該是夢還是真實。
