Description

Taiwanese homes are filled with unshielded and exposed pipes—these could be water pipes, air ducts, electrical conduits, and so on. Collectively bending to meet human needs, they traverse various architectural structures before reaching their destinations. Some hide within steel frameworks, ceilings, or roofs, while others are directly exposed on exterior walls. The surfaces of these visible pipes bear traces of many people's existence; in other words, their very presence signifies that people live here. 


The existence of these tubular structures, or their role as a part of daily life, is often overlooked. I have collected fragmentary tubes from the streets—ones whose destinations are not immediately apparent—and pieced them together into a long “Water Pipe.” Feel free to flip through it, unfold it, and bend it as you wish. I hope this book sparks your imagination about the subtle traces of everyday life, without seeking any specific meaning, and simply allows you to enjoy the fun process of turning its pages.
