Description

Archaic Future
by Yuya Suzuki

Document book of Yuya Suzuki's solo exhibition "Archaic Future" held in Moerenuma Park, Sapporo / Japan in the summer of 2023. The artist exhibited an immersive installation that combined time-based media such as video (animation) and kinetic sculpture with three-dimensional works that reflected his consideration of the archetypes of form that have been prevalent from ancient times to the present, based on his research of contemporary and ancient cities and archaeological materials. The book includes installation views, drawings, photographs of ancient cities such as Pompeii and Ostia Antica in Italy, which he visited during his research, and reference images of archaeological materials in museums. Text by Masahiko Haito (Director, Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art) is included at the end of the book.
