商品描述

"Construire un lac (...)" tells the fictional story of a group of humans living in the forest. Some thirty chapters describe different aspects
of their lives: the way they eat, their games, their funeral rituals, their festivals, their customs...

In many ways, their way of life can appear absurd and irrational. They spend a lot of time building magnificent rafts that sink as soon as they are launched. They dig a huge lake for the simple pleasure of welcoming water birds. Their ambitious projects often end in failure, but nothing seems to matter.

This text is in the tradition of fictional anthropological narratives such as Henri Michaux's Voyage en Grande Carabagne or Italo Calvino's Les villes invisibles. However, this micro-society is described by the inhabitants themselves, and the strangeness of this group is taken seriously. The incongruities of their way of life are not treated ironically. On the contrary, the absurd is used to tell a utopian story. There is no leader, no social hierarchy based on gender or age. There is no commercial relationship. The relationship at work is playful and joyful. Individual freedom of expression is valued and encouraged. daily life is closely linked to the community's natural environment.

One of the distinctive features of this book is it's unclassifiable aspect. It is neither a novel, nor a collection of poetry, nor an illustration album, nor a children's book. It can be considered an artist's book, at the crossroads of these genres, in line with the author's recent artistic projects.
