本書靈感源自我作為照顧者的經驗，觀察到新生命真實、直接的情緒反應，也反思成人在成長過程中，如何逐漸壓抑與麻痹感受,忘卻了調節情緒的能力。

以「內在小孩」為核心概念，透過第一人稱敘事呈現八個插畫化的內在小孩角色，搭配短詩，引導讀者展開情感覺察與自我療癒之旅。

插畫以水墨結合數位上色完成，封面以大臉與小臉的親密互動為意象，並採雷射切割與數位印刷製作扣式開合設計。
