Description

Image Generation
by Michel Egger

“Image Generation” draws on the similarly titled bachelor's thesis, which has been elaborated at the Zurich University of the Arts in 2018. The publication undertakes a further thematic exploration and aims to outline the handling of digital image references in an artistic way. Generated using Pinterest’s algorithm-driven search function, single images, ones that otherwise would never have come together, are put into a relationship. Formal associations and technological errors collide, allowing these duos to emerge. The book, which is divided into two sections, firstly presents the visual material classified into pairs of images. In the second part, words are used to translate the imagery into unsystematic, yet constantly internet-based information collected by Oliver Kerrison and Andres Triet. The publication is designed in close cooperation with Ollie Schaich and published by Edition Ventile.
