當我們以遊樂場作為題目，意味著從故事中去闡述都會空間的定義，我們會從中討論創造力、爭議，以及反思童年文化：遊樂場是一種充滿象徵的形式，把我們帶到社會關係中的人類學核心。

這本書是策展人和設計歷史學家 Domitilla Dardi 從網上開始的研究結果，以遊樂場所屬的「圖像歷史」開篇：概述了藝術家、設計師和建築師在過去曾處理過的遊樂場的項目。接著，一些創作者被要求為這本書想像新的遊樂場：因而誕生了9個想法，交由Paul Cox、matali crasset、Konstantin Grcic、Martí Guixé、Lemonot、Gianluca Malger i和 Arina Endo、Studio Ossidiana、Parasite 2.0和Olimpia Zagnoli提出，他們將這本書的內頁視為一座遊樂場，自由地進行各種演繹。

《Playgrounding》一書還通過許多影像探討遊樂場的意義：從 Stefano Cerio 和 Fujio Kito 的照片到那些來自世界頂尖圖書館的數位檔案，以及知名藝術家以旋轉木馬為主題的拍攝作品。
