Description

Sol Lewitt
Les Cahiers de la Collection Lambert

This publication is the first part of the new series of Cahiers de la Collection Lambert, designed as real testimonies to the importance and quality of the sets of works preserved in Avignon. It seemed obvious to begin this cycle with Sol LeWitt, as he is so present in the history of the Yvon Lambert gallery and the collection that bears his name. Passionate about this artist, symbol not only of the ruptures initiated by the new avant-gardes but also of a deep attachment to a universal art history and conscious of the past, Yvon Lambert thus acquired and deposited no less than two Wall Drawings, five structures in volume, twenty-four works on paper, two models and an artist's book.

This work reviews the artist's presence in the Lambert Collection collection and his relationship to the collector through photographs of works, some of which had never been published, views of exhibitions in the museum's rooms. , as well as an original interview with Yvon Lambert.
