Description

The Aforementioned
by Victor Chen-Yuan

Foraged from findings throughout his travels in New York, Taipei, and Berlin. Victor Chen-Yuan's monograph is a collection of images caught in-between use and indifference. By capturing instances of volatile stillness, life beyond human touch and the human inclination towards structure is momentarily restored. This composition confesses the conditions of our needs and the consequences of our desires. There's a natural tension in hesitation sustained; In fragments treasured.

A deconstruction of objective flow invites the viewer to study impermanence immortalized - to recover an array of anthropomorphic scenes.

Chen-Yuan's sequence of images balances outgrown environments and artificial atmospheres. Through the translucency of perpetual idleness, we can begin to break down the world into particles and pixels. We see these raw materials as they were morphed through flashes of light and into the future - their continuity delicately gathered. In an iteration of memory, narratives materialize before us grounded in the image of ourselves. They arrive refracted through space to bask again.

It's in a layered perception of urbaninity, in the artist's vast cast, and in meditated glances that the inherent reverb of our disarray is welcomed.
