by Lawrence Weiner & John Baldessari 

本書為兩位藝術大師Lawrence Weiner與John Baldessari，1999年於瑞士阿爾卑斯山上的「城堡大飯店」(Hotel Castell)* 進行的合作計劃。Weiner一向以文字直接表達觀念，抗拒使用實際物料；而Baldessari把早年作品全數燒毀並壓製成一塊塊「餅乾」，其後轉以 “painting on photos”的方式創作。《The Metaphor Problem Again》以「隱喻」為主題，兩人顛倒過來，Weiner改用影像來作比喻，Baldessari改用文字來表述意念，兩人掏出叙述的工具描繪「叙述」的無效和比喻之困難，旁敲側擊，勾勒一個無形的喻體。

本書極罕，當年只印行900本，已絕跡書海多年，我們有緣找到一二本，歡迎私訊查詢。

*最近讀到奧地利作家Stefan Zweig記述一戰前後的回憶錄《昨日世界》，他到瑞士遊歷或避世時，也曾下榻於Hotel Castell。大半世紀後Weiner與Baldessari的合作，為這裡增添傳奇色彩。
