Description

<Tropical Reading 2 | Preview Edtion>

As a continuation of Tropical Reading: Photobook & Self-Publishing, Fotobook DUMMIES Day launched the second phase of its artistic research, expanding its scope to four new cities in Southeast Asia: Bandung, Phnom Penh, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
In this preview edition, we are featuring four new interviews centered around two art book fairs in Southeast Asia: the Singapore Art Book Fair—the region’s earliest—and the Kuala Lumpur Art Book Fair, freshly past its fifth year.

We then turn to two artists and bookmakers—Lee Chang Ming, based in Singapore, and Pam Virada, who works between Bangkok and Amsterdam—whose practices move from images to paper and into physical space. Shaped by years of gradual transformation and reflection, their work invites a slow, lingering gaze.
